Integrated Biodiversity Conservation through Development of Alternative Income Generation Methods for the Communities around the Creasta Cocosului Reserve

Aim of the project

The project aims to facilitate the alternative income generation development for the communities around the Roster's Crest Reserve through the sustainable use of natural resources and locally managed ecotourism development, assuring in the same time the biodiversity conservation in the reserve and its buffer zone.



Objectives of the project:

I. I. Capacity building for the local groups in order to involve them in the protection activities within the reserve, sustainable management of the natural resources from the protected area and the development of related nature friendly activities.
II. II. Promotion of the biodiversity protective eco-tourism in the targeted region, which contributes to the local sustainable development.



Solutions proposed:

- Promoting responsible management based on natural principles;
- Sustainable production;
- Adding the value of the secondary forest products: mushrooms, medicinal plants, forest fruits;
- Develop rural tourism and ecotourism that reduce the economical pressures on the natural resources;
- Educate the local population to adopt attitudes that contribute to the process of climate change mitigation.
All of this are being planned and implemented with the involvement of the local population.
